Articling Students
We typically hire four articling students each year. Our compensation package is at the top end of the range for downtown Vancouver law firms – the salary that we offer for these positions is currently $50,000 per year.
The firm pays each student's tuition fee for the Professional Legal Training Course and the Law Society call and admission fees. We also offer benefits, including medical / dental benefits, extended medical plan and 10 days of paid vacation time during the regular articling period. The students’ salaries and benefits are paid during their attendance at the Bar Admission Course.
Clark Wilson abides by the Vancouver Bar Association guidelines for hiring articling students. Based on those guideline the application deadline for articling positions for 2013/2014 is Friday, June 29, 2012. Selected applicants will be notified on Friday, July 13, 2012 (8:00 a.m. PST) to arrange interviews. Interviews for articling positions will take place during the week of August 13 to 17, 2012 (Interview Week).
Summer Students
If you are a second year law school student, working as a summer student is a great opportunity for you to get a head start on your career with our firm. You will experience a full rotation of work comparable to that of regular articling students, and you will have a strong opportunity to continue with your articling at Clark Wilson in the following year.
We typically hire two second year law students per year to work at the firm from May to August. We pay our summer students a monthly salary competitive with other downtown Vancouver law firms – currently $4,166 per month. For those who accept offers to return as regular articling students the ensuing year, we pay the student's third year tuition up to $5,000.
Clark Wilson abides by the Vancouver Bar Association's guidelines for hiring summer articling students. Based on those guidelines the deadline for applications for 2013 summer student positions is Wednesday, September 5, 2012. Selected applicants will be notified on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 (8:00 a.m. PST) to arrange interviews. Interviews for summer positions will take place during the week of October 15 to 19, 2012 (Interview Week).
