Group Profile:
Clark Wilson LLP’s Family Law Practice Group consists of three senior counsel well known in the domestic relations field, who are ably supported by experienced associates and paralegals. We provide our clients with creative and cost-efficient solutions to many of the issues and problems which can arise in the myriad of domestic relationships that exist today.
Members of our team draw on their extensive conflict resolution experience to help clients achieve a fair and tax efficient financial resolution to issues arising from the breakdown of relationships. We have considerable experience in matrimonial disputes involving complex tax planning, trust arrangements and claims to and against private or public business interests.
In addition, in the event that a client in a domestic dispute wishes to engage in direct dialogue with his/her partner, we can also provide mediation services where the mediator facilitates the discussion and assists the parties in resolving their dispute cooperatively.
Our members are also skilled in the negotiation and preparation of Prenuptial and Separation Agreements and can provide assistance with mediated settlements, either as counsel or as mediator.
Clark Wilson LLP’s Family Law Practice Group is one of only a few such groups operating from a large downtown law firm offering a broad scope of legal services. The benefit of this for our clients is that we are able to call upon other members of the firm for more specialized advice in such areas as corporate restructuring, business valuations, tax advice, shareholder protection, wills and estate planning and other related areas - all of which, in many instances, are required to ensure our family law clients receive competent and comprehensive advice and counseling.
Although we do provide assistance in a broad range of areas, we generally do not focus our resources on high conflict divorces where custody issues are the main source of the conflict.
