Brock Johnston is a partner of the firm and Chair of the Higher Learning Group and Co-Chair of the Infrastructure & PPP Group. He is also a member of the Commercial Real Estate, Construction & Procurement, Commercial Lending Groups and Corporate & Commercial Groups.
Brock serves a broad range of corporate, commercial, institutional and public sector clients. His practice focuses on the procurement of infrastructure by the public sector, whether as counsel for government and publicly funded clients, or on behalf of the private sector. In addition, Brock represents leading investors in commercial real estate, including real estate investment trusts (REITS) and other institutions, both domestic and off shore.
He has extensive experience with a broad range of commercial lending on behalf of lenders and borrowers, whether on a senior secured, mezzanine, specific asset backed or other bases, and represents clients on the purchase or sale of businesses.
Prior to joining Clark Wilson as a partner Brock practiced for many years with a large Toronto law firm. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts, Honours English from York University in Toronto and his Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto in 1981. He speaks and reads French.

Counsel to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure with respect to the Evergreen Line Rapid Transit Project.
Counsel on various public private partnership and infrastructure transactions, including on behalf of Partnership BC and government ministries and agencies, municipalities as well as private sector partners.
Counsel to the University of the Fraser Valley in connection with its acquisition and ongoing work in the Canada Education Park, Chilliwack.
Counsel to the joint venture of UBC, SFU, BCIT and Emily Carr in connection with the structuring of the joint venture and acquisition of a large site on the outskirts of downtown Vancouver.
Advising institutions of higher learning on acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and financing.
Acquisitions and dispositions of corporations and partnerships and their assets.
Acquisitions and dispositions of commercial real estate, including office towers, shopping centres, hotels, apartment buildings and resort properties.
Acting for landlords and tenants on office leases, shopping centre leases, ground leases, leases of First Nations land and other interests in real estate.
Advising on organizational and governance matters, particularly in relation to institutions of higher learning and their affiliates.
Advising on loan structuring and security interests in various sectors, including commercial real estate, golf courses, resource projects, hotels, forestry, First Nations lands.
Financing of commercial interests, including corporate loans, mortgage loans, corporate bonds, convertible loans and gold loans.
