Doug Lahay is a partner of the firm and Chair of the Personal Injury Group. He is also co-Chair of the Business Litigation Group.

Doug's personal injury practice focuses primarily on catastrophic injuries from all causes, including medical malpractice.

Doug's business litigation practice includes Franchise Disputes, Shareholders Remedies, Breach of Fiduciary Duty, Business Interruption claims and Breach of Contract.

He has extensive trial experience, having tried cases in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the British Columbia Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, giving rise to trial awards and settlements totaling in excess of $50 Million. Doug has been counsel on several leading cases including the first case in British Columbia to consider the application of legislation mandating periodic payment of large awards. Doug has also done numerous commercial arbitrations.

He obtained both his Bachelor of Commerce degree (1982) and his Bachelor of Laws degree (1983), from the University of British Columbia.

Numerous catastrophic personal injury trials involving brain injuries and quadriplegia.

Bad faith and breach of contract claims against insurance companies.

Defended a national railway company in a complex commercial arbitration involving a claim in excess of $10 Million.

Acted successfully for a national property development company in a breach of contract claim.

Acted for an international Oil and Gas company, both at trial and on Appeal, in relation to the lease and proposed development of a large piece of Real Estate.
