Preparation and review of executive and other employment and consulting agreements.

Advising corporate clients regarding employment matters, including termination, wrongful and constructive dismissal claims, statutory obligations (such as Employment Standards) and human rights claims.

Representing employers with respect to wrongful dismissal, constructive dismissal and human rights claims in court and tribunal proceedings.

Profile

Allyson Baker is a Senior Associate in Clark, Wilson’s Litigation Department.

In 1989, she graduated from Queen’s University at Kingston with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biochemistry. Ms. Baker received a received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia in 1993.

Ms. Baker articled and then practiced with Clark, Wilson for 6 years, working primarily in the areas of construction law, condominium law, commercial law, personal injury and insurance defence. Ms. Baker was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2000 and thereafter practiced with a litigation boutique firm in Toronto in the areas of commercial and employment law.

In October 2001, Ms. Baker returned to Vancouver and, until rejoining Clark, Wilson in October 2003, practiced with a litigation boutique firm in Vancouver in the areas of construction, strata property, environmental and commercial law.

Ms. Baker is the co-author of the Employment Law chapter in the Strata Property Practice Manual, Continuing Legal Education of British Columbia, to be published in the spring of 2008. In addition, she has written and presented on Directors and Officers Liability Insurance issues and on Non-Profit Directors and Officers Liability.

Ms. Baker has traveled extensively, residing in eight different countries and several Canadian cities before settling down in Vancouver.

Community Involvement

Ms Baker has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Condominium Homeowners Association since September 2004 and a member of the Board of Directors of the Developmental Disabilities Association of Vancouver- Richmond since November 2004.
