Representative Work

Acts for international and Canadian companies involved in the acquisition, development, subdivision, syndication, sale and/or leasing of real property in British Columbia.

Acts for clients with respect to corporate reorganizations, acquisitions and amalgamations.

Negotiating and drafting share, business and land purchase agreements; joint venture agreements; limited partnership agreements; development agreements; leases; easements; rights of way; and shareholders agreements.

Advised with respect to power projects and real estate developments in Hungary, Taiwan, Philippines and India, including the negotiation of a power purchase agreement for an 800 megawatt power plant in India with an estimated capital cost of US $1.1 billion.

While serving on the board of a private school, arranged financing for the construction of a private school, supervised the architects and supervised the general contractor to see the school open on time and within budget.

Acted for an owner/developer in connection with the acquisition and development by air space subdivision and subsequent strata subdivision of the air space parcels of a mixed use project, consisting of a residential tower, an office tower, retail/commercial areas and a related parking lot, including attendance to all development, subdivision, management, construction, leasing and sale matters.

Acted for an owner/developer of a Sheraton Four Points Hotel project and in connection therewith represented the owner/developer in the acquisition, consolidation, development, construction, franchising and all other legal matters related to the commencement and operation of the business.

Acted for owners/developers with respect to the creation of multiple residential dwelling units on bare land strata lots by way of a quasi-cooperative consisting of registered long term leases and agreements reflecting ownership rights.

Acts as general legal advisor to high net worth families and individuals with respect to control of assets and the transfer of assets between family generations and with respect to estate and will planning.

Profile

Anne Kober graduated from law school in 1972 and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1973. Over the last 32 years, she has gained a broad base of experience in corporate, commercial and real estate law. Anne brings to the practice of law an understanding of financial statements and a sensitivity to income tax matters, having worked as an accountant with several local firms of chartered accountants prior to her entry into the legal profession.
