"Economical Litigation 2009"

One of the great challenges of our civil justice system is the tremendous expense of conducting civil litigation. The skyrocketing cost of engaging the court system is a concern to both litigants and counsel who represent them. In this context, the challenge facing lawyers is how to achieve good results that are also cost effective for their clients. Can it be done? We think yes. This course is dedicated to the proposition that there are strategies, tools, and techniques that counsel can utilize to serve their clients more effectively—in effect, achieving "economical litigation." This course will bring together a member of the bench and senior litigation counsel to share their perspectives and practice tips on how civil litigation can be made efficient and affordable. Where appropriate, topics will incorporate aspects of professional ethics and practice management.

There are four learning options for this course:

  1. a face-to-face live event in Vancouver;
  2. a real time live webcast;
  3. a subscription to this course as part of the Webcast Archive; or
  4. a video repeat—This course will be taped and then presented throughout BC.
