Representative Work

David represents conventional, equity and mezzanine lenders, pension funds and merchant bankers in the structuring and securitization of loan transactions and has extensive experience in the financing of a wide range of commercial interests. His experience with lending transactions includes advising lenders in respect of local and multi-jurisdictional corporate loans, mortgage loans, corporate bonds, and convertible loans, mezzanine loans, loan syndications and participations and loan restructurings. He has extensive experience advising lenders in respect of various real estate sectors and First Nations lands.

Recent examples of David’s representative work experience include:

$125,000,000 loan to assist in the acquisition of commercial real estate and provide operating and construction facilities.
$50,000,000 loan for the acquisition of hotel properties in multiple Canadian jurisdictions.
$27,100,000 loan for the construction of multiphase residential construction project.
$43,000,000 multi-currency, operating loan, term loan (including swap facility) to finance Canadian and US Dollar accounts receivable.
$45,000,000 multi-currency, operating loan (including swap facility) to finance Canadian and US Dollar accounts receivable and inventory.

David is a member of the firm's Commercial Lending, Commercial Real Estate and Corporate/ Commercial Practice Groups.

David obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of British Columbia in 1972. He co-edits and contributes to the Annotated Real Estate Lending Precedents for the Continuing Legal Education Society of B.C. He also authored Equity Mortgages for The Canadian Institute (1994).

He also acts for real estate clients in connection with the acquisition, development, leasing and disposition of commercial real estate.
