  • Advising employers in post-employment competition disputes, involving duty of confidentiality, noncompetition and non-solicitation clauses, and fiduciary duties.

  • Counsel for large telecommunications company in successfully defending the dismissal for cause of a long service manager.

  • Counsel for employers and employees in wrongful dismissal and constructive dismissal cases, including complex pension, stock options and incentive plan issues.

  • Counsel for a non-profit women’s group in a significant human rights decision.

  • Counsel for employers and individuals in human rights and employment standards issues, and judicial reviews of tribunal decisions.

  • Counsel for forestry company in obtaining injunctions against illegal picketers and environmental protestors.

  • Counsel for municipality in successful injunction application to prevent publication in a newspaper of confidential information.

  • Counsel for health authority in successful injunction application to prevent dissemination of confidential information by union.

Before joining Clark Wilson LLP in February 2008, Gwendoline was a partner at another large Vancouver law firm.

Profile

Gwendoline Allison is a Partner with Clark Wilson LLP’s Labour & Employment and Commercial Litigation Practice Groups.

Her practice encompasses a broad range of commercial litigation, including employment-related and contract disputes. She has acted for a variety of clients including large corporations, financial institutions, health authorities and not-for-profit societies. Gwendoline has experience at all levels of court, including the British Columbia Court of Appeal, and she has represented clients at a variety of tribunals.

Gwendoline is the founding co-author of a textbook on employment standards law, and is a frequent speaker on litigation and employment issues. She is an adjunct professor of civil litigation at the University of British Columbia, and is a Director of the Continuing Legal Education Society.

Gwendoline obtained her LL.B. (Honours) from the University of Glasgow in 1989 and her LL.B. from The University of British Columbia in 1994. She was called to the Bar of BC in 1995.
