Wills, Trusts & Estates: Mr. Howard’s extensive practice in developing and implementing tax effective estate plans for his clients encompasses a wide variety services, including: tax planned Wills; Trusts; Representation Agreements; Powers of Attorney; Committeeships; Estate Administration; Executor’s rights, duties and compensation; and Estate issues in connection with RRSP and RRIF.

Commercial Lending: Mr. Howard’s banking and secured lending practice includes particular experience in representing Canadian chartered banks and other lending corporations in complex lending transactions, encompassing:

• various borrowing entities (corporations, partnerships, limited partnerships, trustees and offshore entities);

• demand and terms loans; construction and acquisition loans;

• foreign currency loans (U.S. dollar, British pound sterling, Euro and Euro-Yen);

• various funding options, including Prime Rate, U.S. Base Rate, Cost of Funds, Bankers Acceptances and LIBOR;

• loans on a variety of real and personal property in BC and in other jurisdictions; and

• syndicated/participation loans.

Mr. Howard graduated from the University of British Columbia in Economics in 1963 and Law in 1966. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1967, and has practiced as a partner with Clark Wilson LLP since 1984.

He is a former director and officer of a number of community organizations, including the YWCA/YMCA, BC Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Western Canada Theatre Company.
