Seva Batkin is an associate with Clark Wilson LLP's Business Litigation, Technology & Intellectual Property and Estate & Trust Litigation Practice Groups.

Seva speaks, reads and writes Russian fluently. He studied law at the University of British Columbia, receiving several academic scholarships and earning his Bachelor of Laws degree in 2007. While studying law, Seva operated a successful legal research business.

Prior to commencing his legal studies, Seva had an extensive career as a Telecommunications Engineer with a focus on Research & Development, and Client and Project Management. Seva earned his Bachelor of Communications Engineering degree, with high distinction, from Carleton University.

After completing his legal studies, Seva clerked for the British Columbia Supreme Court.

Seva was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 2008.

Representative Work

Seva's multi-faceted legal experience covers the areas of business and intellectual property litigation, intellectual property licensing and trade-marks, corporate taxation and personal injury litigation. Seva also serves as the Solicitor to the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia. His representative work includes:

  • drafting and negotiation of licenses and other intellectual property agreements;

  • drafting and prosecution of patents and trade-marks;

  • litigation of intellectual property disputes;

  • due diligence;

  • advising clients with respect to copyright issues;

  • representing small and large businesses in business disputes and negligence claims;

  • assisting publicly listed and private companies with private placements, business acquisitions, asset and share purchases; and

  • various corporate tax matters.
