Profile

Lyall Knott is a senior partner of Clark Wilson LLP's Business Law Group.

He was born and raised in Vancouver and earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1971, and Bachelor of Laws degree in 1972, both from the University of British Columbia. He earned a Master of Laws from the University of London, England, in 1973, and in 1985 he was appointed to the rank of Queen’s Counsel.

In addition to having a broad base of experience with both public and private corporations, he has an extensive background and understanding of the workings of government.

Honours
  • 1985 - Appointed to the rank of Queen's Counsel (Canada).

  • 1990 – Founding Director and Corporate Secretary, Vancouver International Airport Authority.

  • 1992 – Chair, Canada Place Corporation.

  • 1993 - Honourary Consul for the Republic of Tunisia in British Columbia and Yukon.

  • 1999 – Chair, Friends of H.M.C.S. Vancouver.

  • 2000 - The UBC Alumni Association named Lyall Knott as the recipient of the 2000 Blythe Eagles Volunteer Service Award, which is presented annually to a graduate of UBC, in recognition of his contribution of extraordinary time and energy to the Alumni Association.

  • 2002 - Recipient of the Commonwealth Medal for the Queen's Golden Jubilee, awarded to Canadians who have made significant contributions to their fellow citizens, their community, and Canada.

  • 2003 - Awarded the Medal of Merit Award for outstanding citizenship, which is the highest award given by Lions International to a non-Lion.
