Kevin MacDonald is a partner of the firm and Chair of the Commercial Lending Group. He is also a member of the Commercial Real Estate and Insolvency & Restructuring Groups, and Chair of the Students Committee.

Kevin acts for various financial institutions, including domestic banks, foreign banks, trust companies, life insurance companies, pension funds and private lenders. He also acts on behalf of a number of real estate developers.

He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and English from Whittier College, California in 1982, his Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia in 1987. He was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1988.

Lender counsel in connection with a variety of loan transactions including operating loans, demand loans, construction loans, foreign exchange loans and documentary credits.

Representing lenders with respect to loan transactions involving a variety of structures, such as joint ventures, limited partnerships, offshore entities, trusts and nominee held assets.

Acting for borrowers and lenders in all types of loan transactions/credit facilities from simple mortgage transactions to complex corporate financing matters involving residential and commercial developments, hotels, resort properties, native lands, leasehold lands, shopping centres, office buildings, industrial properties, professional sports and entertainment organizations and the radio and telecommunications industry.

Extensive experience acting for lenders regarding NHA/CMHC financing, syndicated loan transactions and secured bond financings.

Providing advice to clients on all aspects of the Personal Property Security Act, Bank Act, Strata Property Act, Real Estate Act, Land Title Act and other legislation relating to commercial lending and real estate matters.
