Amy Mortimore and Gordon Behan are presenting at the upcoming TLABC Estate Litigation Seminar addressing the new omnibus estate legislation, WESA (Wills, Estates and Succession Act). Their presentation will focus on new provisions (sections 58 and 59 of WESA) which would allow a Court to find that a document that does not conform to the formal requirements of the Act is the last Will of the deceased and to rectify errors in a Will. These provisions are new to BC, although there is similar legislation in other jurisdictions. Amy and Gord will provide insight into how cases decided in other jurisdictions will provide guidance to WESA’s provision. The seminar takes place on June 6 at the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside.
