Mr. Roy Nieuwenburg appointed as Queen’s Counsel

Firm News

We are proud to announce that Mr. Roy Nieuwenburg was appointed as Queen’s Counsel (QC). The BC Lieutenant-Governor in Council, on the recommendation of the BC Attorney General, bestows this honorary title in recognition of Mr. Nieuwenburg’s exceptional merit and contribution to the legal profession.

Our Managing Partner James Speakman reiterates this prestigious recognition:

Roy is an exceptional lawyer. He has a broad commercial practice and has exemplified innovation in many ways. He has also made significant contributions to the profession, including being founding Chair of the CBA’s Banking Law Subsection, contributing to Practice Advisory Panels and presenting and publishing widely.

What was not mentioned in the Attorney General’s notice of this award is Roy’s extensive contributions to the firm over the past 35 years. He has lived and breathed and dedicated himself to the success of Clark Wilson for the whole of his career. He fully exemplifies every one of our core values of quality, teamwork, trust and caring, as well as the additional qualities of effort, diligence and perseverance.
