Join Clark Wilson LLP partner Matthew Ostrow as he speaks at the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia’s (CLEBC) annual event, Family Law Basics 2025 Conference, which will be hosted in Vancouver on Thursday, April 10th. This full-day session will be offered in person and virtually.

Attendees will hear from an experienced faculty line-up, including our own Matthew Ostrow, and learn the practical aspects of running a family law file, from interviewing the client to case management to litigation techniques. This fundamental course is geared toward articled students, lawyers in their first five years of practice, and lawyers changing practice areas or needing a refresher.

After taking this program, participants will:

  • Gain tips and advice on how to effectively manage your clients
  • Be aware of disclosure and discovery, judicial case conferences, and expert reports
  • Understand how to use different methods to resolve family law issues, including using parenting coordinators

Matthew’s session, Expert Reports, will delve into key areas including:

  • Types of expert reports: section 202 and 211 reports, joint, party’s own, courts’ own, rebuttal
  • Emerging use of shadow experts
